Que de tanto ser encarado
Se tornou o branco mais puro
A luz
Que de tão brilhante
Até aos cegos seduz
For a long time, I wondered if I should or not post my poems here, wrote a lot of scribbles, countless versions and waited many times for the first day of the month to start this project. As noticeable, all my previous attempts failed, some managed to get posted only to, sooner or later, be removed from the blog. Why did I hide myself? Why did I hide them? I don't know exactly, of course I have my theories, but I never achieved a clear conclusion and don't intent to. I started this poem compilation with my first ever published piece - excluding the ones from when I was too young to understand what I wrote about - with the hopes of finishing and keeping it here; there's no certainty in anything, but this is the beauty of life... I guess.

Chiaroescuro
Darkness
Stared at for so long
Became the purest white
Light
So stunning
Seduced even the blind

The title of the poem takes after the technique used in paintings of the renaissance during the XV century. The word, birthed in Italy, means light and shadow, or bright-dark, and it's connected directly with the method of painting those images, depositing on them more dramaticity. Defined by the contrast between light and shadow in the representation of an object, though with fewer tonal nuances, this estrategy, just like the poem, shows the relationship between oposites, more harmonic than it seems. In the fragment, manichaeism and synergy connect, creating shy illusions and inverting roles, proof that light and shadow coexist in an eternal alternating waltz.
